Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (华为) is a Chinese multinational technology company. The head office is in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It designs, develops, and sells telecommunications equipment and consumer electronics. Huawei has deployed its products and services in more than 170 countries. In July 2020, Huawei surpassed Samsung and Apple to become the top smartphone brand (in number of phones shipped) in the world for the first time.
In July 2003 Huawei established their handset department and by 2004 Huawei shipped their first phone, the C300. The U626 was Huawei's first 3G phone in June 2005 and in 2006.
In January 2015, Huawei launched the new P series. Since then their most famous models in the P and Mate lines became fair competitors and innovators on the market. On 9 August 2019 Huawei officially unveiled Harmony OS which is planned to replace the Android system in case of political and economical actions from the USA.
On 26 March 2020, Huawei announced the P40 series. The P40 and P40 Pro are constructed with anodized aluminum for the frame, while the back uses Gorilla Glass. The P40 Pro+ uses ceramic for both the frame and the back. The display is flat on the P40, and curved on all sides on the P40 Pro and P40 Pro+. The camera features Leica optics, and the wide lens on all models is a new "Ultra Vision" 50 MP sensor. Like the P30, the wide lens uses a "SuperSpectrum" image sensor, whose color filter array uses yellow sub-pixels instead of green. Huawei stated that this would allow more light to be captured, and enhanced absorption of red and green colors.
