Mobile Communications Business Group, Sony Corporation and in short, Sony Mobile is a multinational telecommunications company founded on October 1, 2001 as a joint venture between Sony Group Corporation and Ericsson. The headquarters is located in Tokyo, Japan and fully owned by Sony. Prior to April 1, 2021, Sony Mobile exclusively created Android-powered smartphones under the Xperia sub-brand name.

At its peak in 2007, Sony Ericsson, Sony Mobile's predecessor, held a 9 percent global mobile phone market share making it the fourth largest vendor at the time. In 2017 Sony Mobile held less than 1% global market share but got larger shares of 4.8% in Europe and 16.3% in Japan.

The Xperia series running the Android OS with the Xperia X10 model was launched in 2010. In 2013 there was first seen the Xperia Z smartphone. Sony is known for the top quality camera modules development company. So the camera sensors are always good in their smartphones. In 2020 we got the release of new Xperia 1 II, Xperia 5 II, Xperia 10 II devices. Also, there was an announcement (and maybe a release by now) of Sony Xperia III series in Summer 2021.
